Weekly Workouts and Updates 7/25-7/31

Before I recap my weekly workouts and updates, I want to give a shout out to Coach Laura, who has been an incredible source of information and support throughout the past month and a half I spent beginning my marathon training plan. If you’ve been reading along this summer, you’ll know that I began having some hip pain in early July that turned into a full-on injury, and as a result, I’ve decided to focus on recovery and will be deferring my entry to the New York City Marathon until next year.

Celebrating A Quarter Century

Yesterday was my 25 birthday, and we spent much of the weekend prior celebrating a quarter century of my life. Aside from all the jokes about how I’m really old now, it was a lot of fun and I’m grateful to the friends and family who make every day of life special, not just my birthday.

WIAW #62

This week’s WIAW features my usual weekend eats when I’m spending a summer weekend at my parents’ house in Connecticut, as I did this past weekend. It’s typically an apple and peanut butter, an apple and homemade muffin, or apple and Larabar before my Saturday long run. Usually in the summer I will eat a lighter snack because the heat makes it harder for me to digest before getting out there, but as I get into marathon training I’m trying to figure out the right balance of fueling well without it feeling like too much. This time it was half an apple and two Apple Cinnamon Flax Muffin Bites with peanut butter.

Weekly Workouts and Updates 6/20-6/27

Week three of my marathon training plan brought another 10-mile run and a pretty similar week of workouts to last week, except that I hewed closer to the actual schedule Laura laid out for me. I’m actually kind of surprised that I did, because this week was just as crazy as last week and there was a lot of life stuff going on!

Weekly Workouts and Memorial Day Weekend

I’ve always loved celebrating Memorial Day. It isn’t the biggest holiday, but it does mark the start of summer in more ways than one. This year, the weather warmed up rapidly, so it seems like it really crept up on us, but all that meant is earlier morning runs and lots of ice cream to cool off. I’ll recap my weekly workouts first and then get to Memorial Day weekend.

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Happy Wednesday! It’s time to showcase another day of eats, this time a Tuesday when I was happy to be home after my California adventures. Nothing says home to me like a plate of pancakes for breakfast, so some of my favorite gluten free fluffy pancakes were in order, with scrambled eggs and berries and maple syrup.
