Weekly Workouts and Updates 5/30-6/6

Today marks the official start of my five-month New York City Marathon training plan. It’s hard to believe this time has arrived, and I’m both excited and a little nervous to get to work. I’ll start with my weekly workouts for this week and then share a little about what I’m expecting in the months of running to come!

WIAW # 57: Cook It In A Pan

You may have seen these recent eats on Instagram, but in all the time it took to recap my Maine adventures, I didn’t get around to sharing my eats for the past two weeks. This WIAW for a Wednesday back in NYC is the time to fix that! Breakfast was a one pan scramble with three eggs, Swiss cheese, sautéed spinach, spinach and garlic chicken sausage, and a slice of Udi’s gluten free toast. I don’t eat “gluten free” foods very much but my dad bought a loaf of Udi’s on sale at Costco and gave it to me so I’ve been enjoying a slice with breakfast or brinner for the past week.

WIAW #56: Home for a Saturday

In this WIAW, I’m showcasing my eats from a Saturday that included a short morning run, one of my closest friends’ bridal showers, and dinner at my family’s house in Connecticut. About 45 minutes before my run, I had a mug of warm lemon water and an apple with peanut butter.

WIAW #54: A Rungry Sunday

I’ve shared the depths of my runger on this blog many times, first in a WIAW last July and most recently in one featuring my New York City Half Marathon weekend eats. Today’s WIAW is from another rungry Sunday, this past one, when I ran the MORE Women’s Half Marathon and subsequently was so demanding where food and drink were concerned that I thought my boyfriend was going to lose it. Luckily, he’s a trooper and puts up with me and my runger 🙂

Five Summery + Gluten Free Costco Finds

I never expected my spring list of five of my favorite gluten free Costco finds to turn out to be one of the most popular thus far. I guess a lot of other gluten free foodies are eager to find fun new foods or stand-by staples! I’ve found a few more myself since that post was published, so I’m sharing five gluten free Costco finds today that have been especially tasty this summer. (I scheduled this post before my trip, so if you’re following along with that know I will be back recapping tomorrow with tips for running in London!)

Weekly Workouts and Updates 7/27-8/2

Hello and happy Sunday, everyone! I am a lot cheerier today than I have been in awhile because my ~10 weeks of freedom began last Wednesday night. It’s time for a recap of the week that got me to this lovely point, starting with my weekly workouts and ending with weekend updates.

Weekly Workouts

Monday: 6.3 miles

Tuesday: Bar Exam

Wednesday: Bar Exam

Thursday: 7 miles

Friday: 8 miles

Saturday: Rest Day

Sunday: 6 miles (planned)

Despite the heat and humidity I was grateful for my pre-exam run Monday and post-exam outing Thursday to let the stress literally sweat out of me! I was a little nervous Friday since I got my stitch removed on Thursday afternoon and the site was sore. But I did a good job taking care of the site, and my doctor said as long as I kept a Band-Aid on and wrapped it tightly for runs, it would be fine. The trade-off for running is a small circular scar instead of a thinner straight line, but I have lots of scars anyway. I’m just happy to be running and getting back on track because Dumbo is in just over a month! And as part of my training, one of my college friends who I’ll be staying with in England signed us up to run a 10K in Hyde Park together which should be lots of fun.
