WIAW #53: Spring Beach Weekend Eats

This WIAW is all about my eats from a weekend at the shore. It won’t be what you’d expect from a typical beach weekend, because even though it was April it was actually snowing on Saturday and lots of the boardwalk eateries were shuttered, but you will see lots of eggs, and of course, some ice cream. Because that happens no matter which way the weather goes.

WIAW #51: Ice Cream Weekend x3

This weekend’s eats were partly showcased in my weekly recap post, but they were so good, I wanted to share them in full in today’s WIAW. Which is more of a What I Ate Weekend, and more specifically, an ice cream weekend…

WIAW #30

When I went to type in the title of this post, I was taken aback. The fact that I’ve been doing What I Ate Wednesday, or WIAW, for 30 weeks is just crazy – not to mention the fact that my one year blogiversary is fast approaching! More on that when the time comes, but for now, for everyone who’s enjoyed following the eats of a gluten free, tree nut free, orange and pineapple and avocado free, and still discovering the best way to eat for herself runner – on to a day of eats! Like my first week at work, I started with breakfast when I arrived at my office around 8:30am, a bowl of berries and a slice of smoked salmon quiche that I packed myself.

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Good morning! This is my first normal WIAW in a few weeks, because the last two Wednesdays I have been in England. Read all about my gluten free eating in the Lake District and in London, and then dive in to today’s post about my eats from Monday.

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Welcome to another WIAW. This round of What I Ate Wednesday is actually of a Wednesday, which I am not sure I’ve ever done before! I snapped photos of my eats from last Wednesday to share with all of you. The bar is getting closer, and my eats are getting pretty samesies, but they’re still delicious, nutritious, and good for body and soul! Breakfast was a gluten free waffle-wich, sweetened up with some honey roasted turkey breast, apple slices, sharp Cheddar, and a touch of maple syrup between two Van’s apple cinnamon waffles. Absolutely delicious with my usual decaf iced coffee.

WIAW #19: Breakfast, Brunch, and Brinner

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Welcome to another WIAW. I thought to mix it up, I’d showcase a weekend day of eats instead of a weekday – and then I realized, since I’m still studying for the bar, and it’s two weeks away, my weekdays and weekend days are pretty much the same. I run, I eat, I study, I walk Sasha, I eat more, I study more, I procrastinate, I watch Netflix. Super exciting, huh? Anyway, I realized there was one thing that made this Monday, actually, a little snazzier, and that was my unintentional dining on breakfast foods all day long. I’ve done it before, and I’ll do it again, but without further ado – I give you breakfast, brunch, and brinner. A day of eats approved by the one and only Leslie Knope, obvs.

For a pre-run breakfast, I had a Peanut Butter Puff-in-a-Mug with some iced coffee and strawberries. It was actually regular coffee and not decaf, for once. My mom made an early trek to Dunkin’ and brought this back. To beat the heat and get a long-ish run in early, I woke up and ate at 7am so I could digest and be out the door before 8, which meant I could drink caffeine.

WIAW #18: Sweet Summer Eats

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Welcome to another WIAW. It was muggy and rainy, so I took it as a sign I needed a rest day, and focused on food instead. And Sasha, and studying (*cough* maybe not enough *cough*). I mean, it took Sasha awhile to want to come inside after her morning walk, my only exercise. We barely beat a big storm into the house! Afterwards, there were a lot of sweets to beat the heat, starting with a breakfast treat.

Five Things Friday: Fruity Fun and Sunny Runs

Hello everyone, and happy almost-weekend! It’s time for another round of Five Things Friday, which as usual will focus on running and eats – but jazzed up by summer sun and cravings.

1. Summer Fruits: Whether berries, melon, or stone fruits, I’m constantly craving fruit. I’ve always been big on fruit, but in the winter I mostly stick to apples and bananas because that’s what’s available locally, so I love it when juicy strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, perfectly ripe peaches and plums, and mouthwatering melons are in season. I happily eat all of these unadorned, but sometimes I’ll get inspired to whip up a recipe involving them, like an oatmeal cake or frozen parfait. Peaches n’ Cream or Strawberry Fields, anyone?

WIAW #14: Long “Runger” Day

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Here we go again – a post featuring a WIAW of my summer bar study eats! Since last week was National Running Day, I had wanted to post this last week, but due to my frequent races this month didn’t squeeze in a regular weekend long run the past couple weeks and turned yesterday into my substitute long run day instead. So today I’m sharing with all of you just how much I consume on one of these days. My “runger” is intense and long-lasting, from 30-60 minutes after the run is over sometimes through the next day. I should also mention that the typical long run of 8-10 miles isn’t all I do – whether I’m in Connecticut and walking Sasha several times, or in the city out and about, there’s an additional 3-5 miles on any given day. Especially this summer, when those are the breaks I get in my run-eat-study-repeat routine. Which might be part of what feeds my runger!

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Welcome to the first WIAW of June, featuring the Monday kickoff of my second week of studying for the bar. I’ve got a bit less time to be creative in the kitchen around here, but while that means many repeat eats, they’re still delicious and (mostly) healthy, and I have managed to sneak in some seasonal specials, despite the very unseasonable weather that ushered in the week.

Pre-run breakfast: A Peanut Butter Puff-in-a-Mug with some strawberries and iced coffee, eaten at 8am while reading the paper and reading a few blogs. Like I said last Thursday, I’ve been eating this dessert-for-breakfast a LOT lately because it’s quick and easy. And my muffin-making has been lower than usual because I don’t want to heat my apartment or house by using the stove!
