Weekly Recap and the MORE Women’s Half Marathon

Yesterday, I ran my third half marathon of 2016 at the MORE Women’s Half Marathon in Central Park. I’ll share my weekly workouts and then get to the race recap and other scenes from the weekend. Actually, first I’m going to show you all this beautiful creature I spotted on my walk home from work on Tuesday, because puppies are priorities. But after that!

Racing For Fun

I’ve been thinking a lot this week about running and racing for fun. As I’ve mentioned many times on this blog, when I first started running, I made a promise to myself that I would not ever let it become just another competitive activity. I took every activity I tried very seriously when I was a kid, and running was going to be something I did just for me, to have fun, get outside in the fresh air, and get away from the craziness of life in law school. And then, about six months after I started running, I entered my first 10K race.

March Monthly Recap

They say that March roars in like a lion and goes out like a lamb where the weather is concerned. Well, the opposite is true if we’re talking about my life. The first two weeks of the month were relatively quiet, coming off the whirlwind of my Florida trip. Then things sped up, quite literally, with my PR in the New York City Half Marathon, continued on to a weekend escape to Connecticut, and now it’s full steam ahead into April and everything planned for the spring. Read on for my March monthly recap and a peek at what’s ahead!

2016 Walt Disney World 10K Race Recap

I’m back from my whirlwind long weekend in Florida, where I ran the Walt Disney World 10K and Half Marathon and had lots of fun playing in the theme parks and eating all the delicious allergy free treats in sight! You can read about my adventures the first time around last year fueling up, running the half marathon, and enjoying the experience. Today’s post is my Walt Disney World 10K race recap, and an overview of the rest of the first two days. Check back for my recap of this year’s half marathon tomorrow!

My 2015 Running Year in Review

As Christmas is upon us and it’s just a week until the clock strikes on 2016, I’m sharing my 2015 running year in review. I debated whether to do this, since earlier this month was my first blog-iversary and I recapped a few highlights then. But since Renaissance Runner Girl started off as a running and gluten free recipe blog, and I still focus a lot on running (with more lifestyle posts now than then) I figured it was only fair to give running a dedicated post!

Ted Corbitt 15K 2015 Race Recap

It’s still hard for me to believe that I’ve been blogging for a year already, but the idea hit home again this weekend when I ran the Ted Corbitt 15K. I ran the same race last year, and it was my first ever blog race recap! Now it’s time for round two with my Ted Corbitt 15K 2015 race recap, and the biggest thing I have to say is what a difference a year can make.

Weekend Updates and the Poland Springs 5M Marathon Kickoff

It’s Monday, and the start of my second week at my new job. I was nervous last week and I have to say, those nerves haven’t totally disappeared, but it’s becoming more real every day. This weekend wasn’t about work, however – it was all about enjoying the autumn weather, seeing friends, whipping up new recipes, and running the Poland Springs 5M Marathon Kickoff in Central Park, Race #7 of the 9 I need this year to qualify for next year’s New York City Marathon. On Saturday, I went for a little stroll in Central Park when I woke up in the morning. Since I was last here, they finished renovating a playground near the East 72nd Street entrance. No more scaffolding!

Ridgefield Pamby Half Marathon Race Recap

This weekend was a whirlwind of stormy weather and calmer skies, the baking of many autumn pumpkin goodies, and oh yes – my spur of the moment half marathon. Last Tuesday, I decided to sign up for the Ridgefield Pamby Half Marathon, organized by the local Wolfpit Running Club, because my parents were running it and I thought it would be fun to do a hometown race. I knew the course would be hilly, because Ridgefield is basically a bunch of hills grouped around a quaint New England main street area, and I don’t do well with hills, but it was going to be a run for fun. My Ridgefield Pamby Half Marathon race recap is going to feature fun and hills…and some struggling, and some more hills. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Thoughts on the Dumbo Double Dare

To wrap up my Disneyland adventure, I’m sharing my final thoughts on the Dumbo Double Dare challenge, just as I did back in January when I ran the Disney World Half Marathon and shared my final musings on the experience. In case you’ve missed them, here are my posts on each day at Disneyland:
