WIAW #23

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Happy Wednesday! It’s time to showcase another day of eats, this time a Tuesday when I was happy to be home after my California adventures. Nothing says home to me like a plate of pancakes for breakfast, so some of my favorite gluten free fluffy pancakes were in order, with scrambled eggs and berries and maple syrup.

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Good morning! This is my first normal WIAW in a few weeks, because the last two Wednesdays I have been in England. Read all about my gluten free eating in the Lake District and in London, and then dive in to today’s post about my eats from Monday.

WIAW #17: Summer Salads, Seafood & Sundaes

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Rabbit, rabbit. Okay now, welcome to the first WIAW of July! Studying for the bar means less time for kitchen creativity. But I still managed to squeeze in lots of summery eats to say farewell to June yesterday and usher in July, from salads to seafood to a scrumptious sundae. My day began with a pre-run snack, which was relatively small. Just a muffin and some blueberries with half a mug of Green Mountain Blueberry coffee. I was only planning to run 5-6 miles and wanted to get out the door. Usually I’d skip the snack for a morning like this, but for some reason I woke up with my stomach growling and knew it wouldn’t be a good idea.

Five Things Friday: Fruity Fun and Sunny Runs

Hello everyone, and happy almost-weekend! It’s time for another round of Five Things Friday, which as usual will focus on running and eats – but jazzed up by summer sun and cravings.

1. Summer Fruits: Whether berries, melon, or stone fruits, I’m constantly craving fruit. I’ve always been big on fruit, but in the winter I mostly stick to apples and bananas because that’s what’s available locally, so I love it when juicy strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, perfectly ripe peaches and plums, and mouthwatering melons are in season. I happily eat all of these unadorned, but sometimes I’ll get inspired to whip up a recipe involving them, like an oatmeal cake or frozen parfait. Peaches n’ Cream or Strawberry Fields, anyone?

Peaches n’ Cream Oatmeal Cake

I hope everyone’s week is off to a smashing start! As for me, I’m getting in some early morning runs before the heat gets too high, and studying up a storm (in between my snacks). Honestly, I’m still reeling today because in yesterday’s lecture my world was rocked. I learned that in New York, there is no spousal privilege when testifying in a criminal case – meaning that Gossip Girl’s awesome series finale Chuck-and-Blair wedding would not actually have worked like it was supposed to… I was walking by Bethesda Fountain, where they filmed the scene, on my way home from a run listening to the lecture, and I was totally thrown!
