June Monthly Recap

Another month gone and suddenly we’re halfway through 2016. The first six months of this year were a whirlwind of activity, and things are only set to get busier from here on out. You can take a look at January, February, March, April, and May, and then read on for my June monthly recap!

WIAW #62

This week’s WIAW features my usual weekend eats when I’m spending a summer weekend at my parents’ house in Connecticut, as I did this past weekend. It’s typically an apple and peanut butter, an apple and homemade muffin, or apple and Larabar before my Saturday long run. Usually in the summer I will eat a lighter snack because the heat makes it harder for me to digest before getting out there, but as I get into marathon training I’m trying to figure out the right balance of fueling well without it feeling like too much. This time it was half an apple and two Apple Cinnamon Flax Muffin Bites with peanut butter.

A Moment I’ll Always Remember

I was going to wait to share this news on the blog, but we’re too excited to keep it off the radar any longer. Monday morning, I took Brett to the hospital because he had an allergic reaction. I’m pretty sure we both thought our first trip to the hospital together would be because I was the one having an allergic reaction, given all the ingredients that must be left out of recipes on this blog, but life is funny that way. Then, on Monday evening, Brett surprised me with one of the happiest moments of my life by asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! It was a moment I’ll always remember, and I’m looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together, as teammates in ice cream eating, reservoir running, and apparently, Benadryl taking 🙂
