Weekly Workouts and a Weekend Blizzard

This week’s workouts were all about getting ready for the Fred Lebow Half Marathon, my second half marathon in as many weeks that I was using to test my endurance as I look forward to formulating a marathon training plan. Except the Fred Lebow was cancelled on Friday because of the impending blizzard, affectionately known up and down the east coast as Winter Storm Jonas. In the end, I was disappointed that I didn’t get to race, but just because the official race was cancelled didn’t mean I couldn’t still get outside and enjoy the winter wonderland that is Central Park in snow. I took the most gorgeous stroll last January during the so-called Snowpocalypse, and was determined to do the same this time around.

WIAW #15

WHAT-I-ATE-WEDNESDAY-NEW-BUTTON-PEAS-AND-CRAYONS

Well, here we go again – a WIAW featuring a day of bar study eats! My meals are pretty monotonous lately, since I’m basically in run-eat-study-repeat mode, but I continue to find ways to mix it up a bit. For example, my pre-run snack yesterday morning. I had a couple of rice cakes smeared with peanut butter and apple butter. I love PB&J, but this is definitely a new favorite combination. And when I pair it with some crisp apple slices? Pre-run snack perfection. I’ll have to add it to the roundup!

From Memorial Day to Wrapping Up May

This May seems like it really flew by, with a highlight reel including the end of law school, time with friends and family, some awesome runs, fun new recipes, and treats while out on the town. On Monday we will be ushering in June, so although there’s still a full weekend left (including a 10K race for me tomorrow!) I figured it was high time for a recap of this month.

Law School Graduation

On May 6, I took my last ever final exam of law school. After four years of high school, three years of college, and three years of law school, it’s all over. I could hardly believe it when it happened. It felt so surreal. And on May 21st, I graduated! I went through commencement with my family in attendance, wearing a ridiculous outfit and loving every minute.

Apple Butter Tea Cake

In the past week, I’ve visited all three locations of Alice’s Tea Cup with friends. No matter what, it’s always the right time for tea and cake. This gorgeous weather puts me in the mood for iced tea, and it’s a lovely place to chat. It also means I’ve watched three friends munch on their delicious scones while I contemplated making my first attempt a gluten-free scone recipe! In the meantime, I’ve been experimenting with my tea cakes…
