This WIAW I’m featuring eats from a weekend at my parents’ house in Connecticut, filled to the brim with early summer eats. It isn’t quite the season yet for my favorite wild raspberries or plump peaches, but the first slices of watermelon have been consumed and the grill put into use! Things kicked off about 45 minutes before my long run Saturday, I had a Granny Smith apple with some peanut butter. Ended up finishing the jar, too.
After my run, I began brunching with a bowl of fresh watermelon. Next up was an omelet stuffed with chicken, cheese, and veggies. Then some yogurt and the very last scrapings of that jar of peanut butter before rinsing it out to recycle.
Throughout the afternoon I had several snacks, including a bowl of popcorn (corn is one of the few grains I’ve added back to my diet on occasion, after the elimination I did in January). And a bowl of strawberries, and a second yogurt with blueberries.
For dinner, we fired up the grill like we did over Memorial Day Weekend, this time to make some wild salmon, French fries, and asparagus. Delicious and perfect for a summer supper.
And for dessert, some ice cream. Black raspberry chip with rainbow sprinkles is always in order 🙂
What’s your typical pre run snack for a hot summer day?
Favorite summer fruit?
Would you rather fire up the grill or have a refreshing salad for a summer supper?

I love grilling in summer! Grilled chicken and vegetables over fresh cool greens is one of my favorite summer meals – the best of both. Berries of any kind are my favorite summer fruit – blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, I crave them all.

The first watermelon of the summer is always the best! And I don’t think I could choose a favorite summer fruit. So many good ones!
