This WIAW is all about my eats on the (third) to last day of 2015, one I spent in Connecticut relaxing with some old friends from growing up and preparing to greet the arrival of the new year. The day kicked off with a big slice of my Pumpkin Apple Spice Loaf, made with a little less flour and a little extra coconut oil for an especially moist and doughy treat. I had it with a yogurt with peanut butter and blueberries and a mug of decaf coffee, as well as half an apple.
I met one of my good friends from growing up for an early lunch. We decided on Bareburger, which I went to for the first time on my friend Kaitlin’s birthday back in the spring and has been pretty good for me each time I’ve gone since. They have a lot of options for the gluten, grain, or dairy free eater, and the sweet potato fries are amazing. This time around I had a turkey burger with Gouda and pickled red onions in a collard greens wrap with some of those fries. A lot more than made it into the photo π
I wasn’t super hungry and thought I might make it through the day for the first time in I don’t know how long without going for an afternoon snack, but I couldn’t last until dinner after all, so had some carrots and cucumbers and a few slices of olive oil Asiago cheese.
Dinner was broiled mahi mahi with roasted broccoli and butternut squash. I topped everything with a sprinkle of pecorino and Parmesan cheese, as well as a little extra Asiago.
Dessert followed, vanilla ice cream with rainbow jimmies. It’s had been so warm, topping out in the mid-60s on Sunday! Now I’m drinking hot cocoa with my ice cream…
And finally, a few squares of dark chocolate from a bar I brought back home after my trip to London. It’s been in the cupboard since summer but I don’t think real dark chocolate ever goes bad. This bar didn’t, at least!
What’s your favorite kind of burger?
Were your taste buds confused by the warmer weather?
Have you been enjoying typical holiday treats this week?

You had that chocolate bar since summer?!? Respect – I would have eaten that bar within days of coming home. π
The warm weather on Christmas was really off, but finally we are catching up – looking forward to my Miso Ramen for lunch because a hearty soup just tastes even better when it’s freezing cold outside.

Whatβs your favorite kind of burger? I love falafel burgers with some great greek yogurt sauce and cucumbers!
Were your taste buds confused by the warmer weather? Not really, I think I still eat the same things relatively. Not craving anything out of the ordinary (still all the sugar!)
Have you been enjoying typical holiday treats this week? I made almond butter for the first time, not festive really, but a huge accomplishment after failing 2 times before =P
